Welcome to the home page of the Hudson Essex Terraplane Club. You have found the official website of the Hudson Essex Terraplane (H-E-T) Club, Inc, an organization dedicated to preserving the products of the Hudson Motor Car Company of Detroit, Michigan (1909-1954) and American Motors Corporation (1955-1957).

Our club was founded in 1959 by Merrit Marks and currently has around 2800 family memberships with over 1300 members on this site.

The Club has four regional meets , one International Meet every year and many local Chapter meets. Click here to see the list of upcoming events.

We have local chapters all over the US and members in many foreign countries. This site is the on-line community for our wonderful club. If you have a love of Hudson-built cars and trucks, we would love for you to join us.

Changes to the website

As previously mentioned the background engine to the site has been updated and we are now running on more secure versions of the software. However , as is always the case with these things, it seems to have introduced some other little nuances that we are working on the background to address.

In no particular order the issues I am currently addressing are:

Repeated logins to the site. In my defence I don't think this is the sites' fault because I see this behaviour elsewhere on other sites I access however I do know it's an inconvenience so I am seeing if there is anything I can do to help.

The format of the site and forum. We are somewhat dictated to by what is called the "template" that governs how the site looks (and to a certain degree behaves). In the past we have tried to run the site as economically as we possibly can but that also dictated the template(s) we could use. The move to the later software meant that those older templates were no longer supported so we have now invested some money in getting access to newer templates. So bear with us whilst we investigate the way in which we can best use those. I have a vision of what I want to look like.

Private Messaging no longer works. The old (free) version is not supported under the new environment and I am trying to identify the best paid option to use.

Mobile / tablet users have been experiencing some issues with things like menus, see above. The template we use will try its best to accommodate different formats but it sometimes needs help from me. I don't have access to a tablet but I do (but only recently!) have access to a mobile so I am trying to work out what needs to happen to make the format look good.

Club leaders will have noticed that it's a little painful to enter notes at the moment. I believe I understand the issue there and am working to resolve that.

The "OpenForum" will be changing , it is running on old , unsupported software and needs to be updated. My current thinking is that it gets merged into the club forum but there is a substantial amount of work and planning that needs to happen there.

So bear with me/us whilst I work through the issues. If anyone has any comments / suggestions then I'm always happy to receive them, drop me a note at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or contact me here Paul Butler
